Some great places to study:
What do you expect of a career in public relations management?
Technology has changed the way we communicate. One can almost practice public relations by simply owning a state-of-the-art cell phone or the latest laptop. But that, unfortunately, is not enough. In a way, public relations is much like multi-tasking: as the link between an organisation and its publics, you will have to perform a diversity of tasks under high pressure while demonstrating the skill of prioritising. When confronted with a huge problem such as the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, you must advise top management to confront the problem openly and honestly – and help them solve it. You have a responsibility towards both the organisation as well as its publics.
It all comes down to communication: planning, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness thereof. Excellent writing skills are required as well as an awareness of global trends and issues. Public relations is a dynamic careerand if you have problem analysis and conflict resolution skills as well, you are bound to succeed.
