Dentistry

Dentists work on peoples teeth. It is a Dentists job to prevent, diagnose, treat  and cure dental diseases and other tooth & gum problems.

Dentists work closely with medical doctors, dental therapists and oral hygienists. They may choose to specialize in certain areas, including:

• Forensic Dentistry
• Orthodontics (straightening of teeth)
• Periodontics (the treatment of gums and the bones underneath)
• Oral pathology (examining dental recors and skeletons of dead people)
• Dental Surgery (operating on the jaw and mouth)
• Community Dentistry (educating people on teeth and mouth care)

Most dentists work in private practise but they can also be employed in hospitals, clinics, state departments such as the military.
