TECHNOLOGY MANAGER CAREER ADVICE SERVICES
(DEPUTY DIRECTOR)
All-inclusive remuneration package of R422,046 per annum
A vacancy exists in the Directorate Career Advice Services for a Technology Manager in the Directorate Career Advice Services.
The eligible candidate will hold an undergraduate IT degree, diploma or equivalent
Or appropriate industry qualifications (e.g. MCSE or similar)or appropriate industry experience (detailed CV or portfolio)
An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration would be an advantage.
Required experience: 3 to 5 years.
Advantages would be 2 years systems development experience with an emphasis on planning and implementing projects, experience in working with multiple operating systems, at least 2 years experience with both open source and Microsoft environments, experience introducing good practice (such as ITIL) methods and practices to a small enterprise .Experience of the Mac OS would also be advantageous .
The main duties of this position are to
n Manage the Career Advice Technology environment, including: Management of vendors that provide support for desktop computer configuration; effective utilisation of the incident, problem, monitoring, and asset management systems; effective management of vendors; provide 1st tier support via the vendor and if required, personally. Manage 2nd and 3rd tier support as required. Monitor and Manage reporting on incident and problem management trends and quality of support and maintenance services to the Career Advice Directorate’s stakeholders.
n Optimise staff access to effective information and communication technology both at SAQA’s offices, if working remotely or while travelling, and provide some training to staff in the use of information and communication technology.
n Follow the guideline of the Career Advice Directorate IT Plan and good practice standards (so called “best practice”).
n Provide project management support for all changes, additions, or other activities within the Career Advice Technology environment and manage vendors for IT projects that are of sufficient size to warrant dedicated vendor project management.
n Perform benefit-cost-risk analysis and requirements analysis on projects or programmes that relate to the Career Advice Technology environment.
n Manage the procurement of and outsourcing of services to IT vendors under contracts, which include proper specification, system development and services levels.
n Optimise the Career Advice Technology environment to support staff to access the Internet and appropriate online Career Advice services across multiple platforms.
