AN EXCEPTIONAL FUND RAISER NEEDED
to continue the Cape Town Science Centre’s fund-raising drive
The Cape Town Science Centre (previously the MTN Sciencentre) is opening in an exciting new site in Observatory, Cape Town, next to the Groote Schuur Hospital, home of the world’s first heart transplant and a stone’s throw away from the acclaimed South African Astronomical Observatory.
The new central site is situated on Main Road within easy reach of public transport and arterial routes. This improved accessibility, the Science Centre’s excellent reputation and its 10 years of experience in demystifying science and inspiring a lifelong journey of learning for both young and old, will ensure that we create a Science Centre for all our communities – a people’s centre.
Following the tremendous goodwill demonstrated by the Cape Town public during this transition phase, the media exposure through the LeadSA initiative and others, the support of the Department of Science and Technology, provincial government departments and the City of Cape Town, and private organisations and individuals, the Science Centre is able to refurbish Phase 1 of this new site. To ensure that the centre does indeed open its doors to the public this year, a fund-raising drive is ongoing to find critical operational funds.
The Cape Town Science Centre is looking for an exceptional individual who identifies strongly with the ethos of a Science Centre, recognizes the value that it adds to our society and the enriching educational opportunities that it offers to those who would otherwise not have access to them.
If you are the person who can ensure that Cape Town has a great Science Centre, and are prepared to develop this well-established fund-raising campaign and work on a commission and expenses basis, please contact Julie Cleverdon on 083 276 9501.
