SEIFSA OFFERS A LIMITED NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS OF OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT. PREFERENCE IS GIVEN TO STUDENTS IN THEIR SECOND, THIRD OR FINAL YEAR OF STUDY AT UNIVERSITY.
Preference is also given to employees of Seifsa member companies or their children to study engineering at a registered South African University.
1.SEIFSA scholarships for students taking full-time courses in one of the following prescribed courses amounts to R24 500-00 per annum and are awarded in the first instance for a one year period only:
2.The scholarship is renewable annually at SEIFSA’s sole discretion, subject to there being sufficient funds available, to the student’s passing and being promoted and satisfactory reports on progress being recorded. The maximum period for any scholarship awarded may not, however, exceed the normal duration of the course.
3.Scholarship holders must apply annually before 31 August for renewal for the following academic year.
4.Scholarships are not awarded for correspondence courses.
5.The scholarships are tenable at any South African university selected by the candidate.

Closing date for entries: not later than 31 August of the year preceding commencement of the course. Extensions may be granted on occasion.
7.Scholarships awarded have to be taken up in the relevant university calendar year or they are forfeited.
8.A SEIFSA scholarship holder may NOT be in receipt of any other scholarship or
study award or be eligible for any remission from the normal fees payable to the university.
9.A SEIFSA scholarship holder has to submit proof of registration at university for that year and submit his/her student number to SEIFSA before the end of March.
10.The scholarship holder is responsible for obtaining progress reports and examination results for submission to SEIFSA. Failure to follow this procedure will jeopardise the renewal of the scholarship.
11.SEIFSA must be notified immediately of any change of address.
12.The scholarship holder may not change the course for which the scholarship was awarded without the prior permission of SEIFSA.
13.There are no formal service obligations attached to the scholarship but students are encouraged to join a company within the metal and engineering industries upon completion of the degree course.
14.Scholarships are awarded ONLY to students who are South African citizens.
NOTE: If proof of registration at university is not received by SEIFSA by the end of March, the scholarship offer is automatically withdrawn.
