Dear Evidence There are a number of different medical fields you can explore such as nursing, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech and language therapy, homeopathy, chiropractic, radiography, optometry and medical technology to name a few. Explore the university medical faculty courses and university of technology health and wellness and applied sciences courses. Use the following Career Planet web page to find their web addresses: http://www.careerplanet.co.za/_pages/places_to_study CAT is recognised by universities of technology, so explore their courses thoroughly. While CAT is not a university subject it still counts when working out your admission point score. We suggest you read the university of Pretoria's admission guide to get a clear picture of how the admission process works: http://web.up.ac.za/sitefiles/file/33/A4%20Admission%20requirements%202010_lr_1.pdf (pages 2 and 3). Every university has a different admission process so explore them all. We wish you the best for the fuure from the Career Planet Team |

Kamil Asks: Our daughter is an A student currently in Grade 11, and would like to pursue a career in the medical field. However, she did not choose physical science, but has maths and biology. Kindly advise whether she can still pursue a career in the medical field or what options does she have?

Dear Kamil Thank you for your question regarding the entry requirements for a medical career. Unfortunately, if your daughter wants to become a medical doctor she does require physical science. However, there are a number of other medical field options to consider:
