Try to get hold of the following flying magazines as they provide great information about flying schools throughout South Africa:

Also consider applying to the South African Defence Force. For entry into the defence force pilot training programme a candidate must pass the aviation medical and have achieved a Senior Certificate with English, Mathematics and Physical Science. Please see the website www.careers.mil.za for full entry requirments.

While private pilot training schools do not require mathematics and physical science, these subjects are strongly recommended as navigation requires extensive use of trigonometry and geometry. Geography will also be helpful.
