Ask Lynn. Medical Field
Dear Kamil
Thank you for your question regarding the entry requirements for a medical career. Unfortunately, if your daughter wants to become a medical doctor she does require physical science. However, there are a number of other medical field options to consider:
- Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy require for psychical science or life sciences (biology). Please refer to the UCT admission requirements web page for further information: http://www.uct.ac.za/downloads/uct.ac.za/apply/apps/undergrad/uctadmis_guidelines_2010.pdf Also consult other medical schools for example the University of KwaZulu Natal: http://hs.ukzn.ac.za/HomePage2092.aspx
- Universities of Technology National Diploma and BTech courses also offer career paths in medical sciences. For example, consult the follow website for medical careers offered by the Cape Peninsular University of Technology and the Durban University of Technology for information on careers like radiography, nursing, dentistry and biomedical technology, to name a few.
We hope this information will help your daughter find a suitable medical career.
