First of all bullying in any form is totally unacceptable in any institution. We are so sorry that your studying has been so badly affected by the bad behaviour of some learners.
We suggest your parents report the bullying to the Western Cape Department of Education and ask them for their help. Please refer to the following web page: http://wced.wcape.gov.za/comms/press/2005/40_bully.html. This article provides good advice and suggests that “Learners can contact the WCED’s Safe Schools Call Centre for advice, at 0800-45-46-47.”
There are a number of options open to you regarding your subject choice issue and we suggest you explore them with your parents to see what will give you the best possible chance in life:
- Stay where you are and ask your parents to approach the principle for assistance with your subject choice.
- Find out if there is another public school were you would be able to take mathematics and physical sciences, information technology or accounting.
- Consider attending a private education institution like Abbots College or Progress College for grade 10, 11 and 12:
- You could also explore home schooling through a correspondence college like Intec or Brainline. This however takes a lot of self-discipline and you may need to get extra lessons or hire tutors from Teach me 2 to help you with subjects:
- You could also consider doing a National Certificate Vocational (NCV) in Information Technology at an FET College. If you get really good results in this course (3 years) you should be able to apply for admission to a National Diploma Information Technology at the Cape Peninsular University of Technology, after which you could even do a Btech degree.
