« Back | Home » Ask Lynn. Learnership Dentistry
Dear Chané
Thank you for your question regarding dentistry learnerships. Unfortunately, at this stage according to the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (http://www.hwseta.org.za/) and the Department of Labour’s document “Registered learnerships by SETA” (http://www.labour.gov.za/documents/useful-documents/skills-development/) there are no registered learnerships for any of the dentistry careers.
The current route for all dentistry careers is formal education through a university of technology or university. For example, the Cape Peninsular University of Technology (http://info.cput.ac.za/prospectus/) offers qualifications in Dental Assisting and Dental Technology, while the University of the Western Cape offers various qualifications in Dentistry and Oral Hygiene (http://www.uwc.ac.za/)
We hope this information is helpful. All the best for your future career.
