Dear Monique
We suggest you contact UNISA directly and see if you can enrol for a BSc Life Sciences degree. UNISA may require you to complete their BSc Access Programme. Once you have successfully completed a year or two of a suitable BSc degree you may be eligible to apply for medicine; to find out if this is possible explore the admission requirements for transferring students for the university you want to study medicine at. This will also give you some idea of the sort of subjects you need to choose for your BSc.
You could also explore the various health science National Diplomas offered by universities of technology after completing a BSc access course through UNISA or the first year of an appropriate BSc. For example:
• Biomedical Technology
• Dental Technology
• Emergency Medical Care
• Nursing
• Optical Dispensing
• Radiography
We suggest if you contact your local university of technology to find out what their requirements are for transferring students.
