Thank you for your email. Please consult the university you would like to attend for their admission requirements for a BSc Information Technology or Computer Science degree together with science access programs if you don’t meet the entry requirements. For example:

• UNISA (correspondence / distance learning): Access the Calendar Part 7 which covers science, engineering and technology and Part 1 which covers admission requirements: http://www.unisa.ac.za/_cmsys/login/form/login.asp?Cmd=ViewContent&ContentID=17178; You may need to complete an access course in physical science, depending on the field of computer science you want to enter.

• UKZN: they offer BSc Engineering: Computer and BSc Computer Science and Information Technology both of which require mathematics and physical science. Explore the alternative access program to see if there is anything that may help you. http://www.ukzn.ac.za/handbooks/2009/Fac30Handbook2009.PDF

• UZulu: BSc Computer Science also requires subjects you do not have (http://www.uzulu.ac.za/appl_hbook.php). Explore their Science Foundation course to see if it may help you to access the BSc you would like.

We suggest you also explore BCom Information Technology degrees as they generally require mathematics and business subjects; however, you must make sure they cover all the aspects of computer science you are interested in.

Also consider a National Diploma Information Technology followed by a BTech degree. These courses generally require mathematics. Consult the handbooks for the informatics or accounting and informatics faculties. For example:
