To answer your question regarding the type of work of a Certificated Engineer, bear in mind that the possession of a Government Certificate of Competency (CoC) gives an engineering artisan the status of Certificated Engineer and the ability to assume legal responsibility for the operation and safety of large industrial plants such as mines, factories and power stations.  In this career, the Certificated Engineer depends on a combination of knowledge, skills and practical experience to fulfil a legal responsibility.
