Dear Kay-mare
We suggest you contact the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (http://www.hwseta.org.za/) which is the SETA that deals with the training of Health and Welfare employees, for information about their services and learnerships. Their contact details are as follows:
Postal Address: Private Bag X15, Bradford Corner, Gardenview, 2047
Telephone: (011) 607 6900
Fax: (011) 616 8939
E-mail Address: hwseta@hwseta.org.za
If you are unemployed we suggest you also register as a “work-seeker” at the nearest office of the Department of Labour; they will also be able to help you with information about how to go about getting a job as a Carer. Also ask them about learnerships which you may be eligible for. For further information explore the document “A learnership guide for unemployed people” (http://www.labour.gov.za/documents/useful-documents/skills-development/).
Best wishes for your future career as a Carer. Let us know how you get on.
Lynn and the Career Planet Team
