Ask Lynn. Bursary BSc
Dear Ntombikayise
Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately we do not offer bursaries; we provide information about bursary providers. We suggest you explore the following sources of loan and bursary information:
- Contact the Financial Aid Office at the university you are attending, for information and assistance. They generally provide information about funding sources, expected costs and strategies for balancing your study budget. They will be able to advise you whether you are eligible to apply for assistance. Also ask about Merit Awards, Achievement Scholarships, Bursaries, Scholarships and Loans from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.
- National Student Financial Aid Scheme (https://www.nsfas.org.za). Students wishing to apply for funding for their studies from the NSFAS should apply at the Financial Aid Office of your university. The NSFAS does not handle individual applications for funding at their offices. Contact the NSFAS Call Centre on 021 763 3232 for more information on Financial Aid Offices where you plan to study.
- Some organizations also provide bursaries and scholarships. However, these usually specific application criteria for example some bursaries require you to study commerce, science or engineering degrees with majors in computer science, information systems and various engineering and technology disciplines. Try some of the following:
- Make use of the career information resources like the Career Planet bursary page (http://www.careerplanet.co.za/_pages/bursaries) to identify potential bursary providers. Please make sure you meet their criteria and application deadline dates. The dates given are the date that the bursary scheme should receive the application, so post your application forms at least a week in advance of the due date.
We hope this information will assist you to find a way of funding your BSc.
