COMPUTER OLYMPIAD
TALENT SEARCH
Participation in the Talent Search is open to all – it is a pen-and-paper aptitude test which does not require the use of a computer at all.
It is of special interest to grade 9 learners who have to select subjects for grade 10. It is also of interest to grade 1 learners who have to make career choices. Learners who do well should consider a career in ICT. Many schools use the Talent Search to guide learners in their subject choice and to select learners for the Applications and the Programming Olympiad even though participation in the Talent Search is not a requirement for the other Olympiads.
Rewards: Certificates are awarded to the top participant in each grade and the top three participants in the school.
The names of top learners are forwarded to the Department of Science and Technology and to the Allan Gray Education Foundation so that qualifying learners can be invited to Science Camps and can be considered for Allan Gray Scholarships.
The results of the Talent Search are not published.
Talent Search date for 2012: Friday 16 March 2012
