Tractor and Agricultural Machinery Mechanic
Apart from visual inspection of the equipment, the tractor and agricultural machinery mechanic listens and uses electronic equipment to trace problems.
The tractor and agricultural machinery mechanic may:
- dismantle defective units and repair or replace parts using various tools
- reassemble, adjust and lubricate these parts to ensure that they operate efficiently
- install and repair farm irrigation systems
- maintain farm electrical systems.
The tractor and agricultural machinery mechanic must be able to work with both petrol and diesel engines and occasionally may have to do welding. You will often have to work very quickly since farmers cannot afford to have important machinery out of order for long.
