Becoming a Taxi Driver entails driving passengers around from one destination to another. This can mean long hours behind the wheel of the vehicle well into the night.
It is required to be in possession of a valid/recognised drivers licence to become a Taxi Driver.
There are basically two categories of taxis:
The taxi driver that caters for business travelers and tourists usually transports people to and from airports, convention centers or places of entertainment.
A customer may also call the taxi company, which relays the information to the taxi driver by means of a two-way radio.
The taxi driver transports the passengers, collects the fee according to the meter in the taxi and records the transaction in a log.
Requirements for this particular area of Taxi Driving are:
The minibus taxi driver transports;
They charge a set fare for a particular route and distance. They collect passengers at a taxi rank or at any point along a regular route.
The passengers use hand signals to indicate the part of town to which they want to travel.
It is expected that the minibus taxi driver to be familiar with peak hour traffic patterns and less congested routes to ensure that they get to work on time.
