Special Effects Artist
Special effects artists are responsible for the creation of effects that will enhance the feel, emotion or setting of a particular production. If their effects involve mechanical designs, they have to build and operate the necessary machines.
Special effects can be created in all kinds of productions, eg. movies, television, stage or theatre. Science fiction- for instance- has opened a whole new world for special effects artists - they can literally let their minds run wild with creatures and settings they create, most of which are manually or electronically operated. Therefore, special effects artists have to work closely with the producer and the other members of the production team.
Other effects such as smoke, lightening, flying objects, snow, rain and fire are all created by special effects artists.
