Physiotherapists treat people for sicknessses, injuries and disabilities. They help people to recover from illness or injury or to cope with disability and lead as independent and fulfilling lives as possible.
As a Physiotherapists you would work as part of a medical team treating people of all ages and with all types of injuries. You would play and important role in educating communities on health issues. You would examine patients to evaluate how well the different body systems are working and find out the causes of their pain. The treating of patients would involve massage, exercise and the use of equipment producing infrared radiation and ultrasound. Other methods of treatment is the use of thermotherapy and electrotherapy.
As a Physiotherapist you would explore the patient's psychosocial situation and give advice on coping with chronic pain and illness.

Physiotherapy is particularly useful for people with problems surrounding the function of their muscles, bones, heartm circultation and lungs. You could work with clients in a range of areas and departmetns such as paediatrics, outpaitients, intensive care womens health and occupational health.
Physiotherapists can work either as a department of a Medical facility, independently within a Medical facility or open their own practice working independently.
