Petroleum Geological Technologist
Petroleum geological technologists usually start as geologists, and then specialise as petroleum geological technologists. Their primary function is quality control in a refinery or lubricant manufacturing plant or in the field of petroleum product application and use. These products are obtained from crude oil by refining processes, and include liquid petroleum, gas, aviation, motor, diesel and furnace fuels, kerosene, solvents, lubricating oils, greases, waxes, bitumen and other special products.
Other duties:
· assist in the exploration and drilling for oil and gas, keeping daily records of the drilling progress
· research different types of mud used to lubricate bore tips
