Performing Arts Technician
The performing arts technician works predominantly in theatres and assists in the design, fabrication and construction of stage sets. They need to have a sound knowledge of methods and problems of stage and set design, lighting equipment, lighting controls, sound systems, projection equipment and electrical theatre equipment including the repair and maintenance thereof.
Duties:
- They are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the lighting, sound, projection and other stage equipment in productions.
- They oversee storage areas and operating equipment.
- Assist with the management of the facility as well as the scheduling of events and supervision of workers and crew.
- Administrative duties such as maintaining records of purchases, repairs and maintenance, work orders, requisitions and other similar documents are other duties performed by the technician.
They will work closely with people from all walks of life.
