Occupational Therapists (OT) treat patients with develomental or learning problems using a combination of physical and mental exercises and activities . They also treat people with more severe physical or mental disabilities to cope with day-to-day tasks at school, home or work - empowering them to be as independent as possible and experience dignity and quality of life.
Being an OT can be physically hard work. It can also be emotionally and mentally demanding.
OT's advise people on how to adapt their environement to help them cope independently, e.g.. by using aids or devices or making structural alterations to buildings.
OT's are also involved the normal development and recovery of sick or disabled people. They use activities to improve:
