Management Consultant
Management consultants analyse management problems and make suggestion to alleviate them. Management problems can include better control over expenses and stock, reorganising the corporate structure, eliminating duplicated or non-essential managerial positions.
The work varies from client to client or employer to employer. Some jobs might require a team of individually specialised consultants.
Management consultants define the nature and extent of the problem by reviewing important data such as financial reports, and by interviewing employees and managers and observing their operations. They take into account the nature and internal culture of the organisation in the industry. Once they have decided on a course of action, they make their recommendations and communicate their finding to the client, whether in writing or by means of an oral presentation. The organisation may involve the management consultant in implementing the suggested changes.
