As an Accountant you will be looking at the numbers but as a Forensic Accountant/Auditor you will be looking behind the numbers finding out what makes everything tick.
When companies are concerned about financial discrepancies and suspect financial fraud they will need more than an Accountant. They will need a Forensic Accountant. Someone who specialises in forensic accounting, someone who looks beyond the numbers.
As a Forensic Accountant you will be qualified in Accounts, you could be a certified fraud examiner or a certified public accountant who do investigation and research in order to find the financial discrepancies in order to find out who, what, where, why, when and how discrepencies have occured.
Forensic Auditors will work with others to put together and implement systems and controls to prevent internal or external fraud from happening again.
