Food Technologists are responsible for researching aspects involved with the production, preservation and development of high-quality foods. They also manage processing plants and quality assurance laboratories. They are responsible for monitoring of food quality standards by government bodies (namely SABS).
Food Scientists and Technologists at different levels of seniority are employed by food-manufacturing or processing companies, research institutes, educational institutions and government bodies responsible for monitoring food quality standards
