Fitters and turners are artisans who are responsible for the manufacturing of parts on a lathe and a milling machine including fitting of machine parts. They are the people who manufacture the mechanical parts (the Turner) and assembles (the Fitter) those parts to manufacture and mechanical device
A Fitter and Turner uses machine tools to make or modify parts, mostly metal parts and this process is known as machining.
The outcome of the operation is to produce a part that conforms to a set of specifications, usually in the form of engineering drawings commonly known as blueprints.
