Dentists work closely with medical doctors, dental therapists and oral hygienists. They may choose to specialize in certain areas, including:
Orthodontics (straightening of teeth)
Periodontics (the treatment of gums and the bones underneath)
Oral pathology (examining dental recors and skeletons of dead people)
Dental Surgery (operating on the jaw and mouth)
Community Dentistry (educating people on teeth and mouth care)
Most dentists work in private practise but they can also be employed in hospitals, clinics, state departments such as the military
Dentists would either work in their own practice or join a group of Dentists in a group practice.
Required: National Senior Certificate endorsed for Degree
