Dental Assistants
Many people fear visiting the dentist, and one of the Dental Assistants tasks is to put them at ease and and prepare them for the examination.
The Dental Assistant sterilizes and disinfect instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials and is the 'right hand' of the dentist during a dental prodedure.
Other duties can include:
- Recording treatment information in patient records.
- Taking and recording medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients.
- Providing postoperative instructions prescribed by the dentist.
- Assisting the dentist in dental emergencies.
- Pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Instructing patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
Required: National Senior Certificate endorsed for a Diploma
