Examine and analyze accounting records to determine financial status of establishment and prepare financial reports concerning operating procedures.
 

Computer Auditors are usually individuals working for external auditing firms hiredby a company to audit their information technology departments. As a computer Auditor you will need to have extensive knowledge of the IT industry and prefereably a financial background. These audits are usually divided into five categories:

• the development or prgramming standards as well as the accompanied documentation are evaluated
• the level of control in the department is investigated, e.g. does management have control over expenses or software licensing.
• the way in which the department supports its computer-users is evaluated
• the access rules and regulations of the local-and/or Wide Area network are investigated, and
• the policies and proceduresare evaluated, as well as to what extent they are implemented.

Once the five categories have been invested a report is compiled and presented to the company being audited.
