Budget Analyst
One of the main tasks of budget analysts is to provide advice and assistance to management preparing budgets for their organisation. These budgets include plans for new initiatives and venture, funding increases, estimated costs and expenses, staff salaries and capital expenditure. Another important task is to find new ways to improve an organisation’s efficiency and to increase their profits. They do this by examining the budgets closely on a continuous basis. They also have to ensure that the budgets they develop comply with financial legislation.
Duties:
- Develop, analyse, interpret and execute budgets.
- Monitor and evaluate budget expenditure and produce reports explaining variances.
- Provide continual feedback and summaries on budgetary problems such as over-expenditure or under-expenditure to management of organisations.
Budget analysts are also responsible for efficient distribution of limited financial requirement within an organisation. If these tasks are not executed correctly, the organisation could go bankrupt. They also do comparisons of past and current budgets and carry out research on economic and financial developments.
