These are some of the requirements for becoming a Boiler Fitter.
Boiler fitters are responsible for fitting boilers which are big, heavy metal tanks that hold boiling water. These tanks are normally housed in small confined areas and can be high risk.
It is important for Boiler Fitters to understand and know the different metals used for making boilers as well as knowledge regarding the use of a wide range of power tools, drill pressers, shears, welding equipment and metalworking machines.
Boiler Fitters interpret blueprints and instructions for installing boilers. They need to prepare the materials and carry out the installation exactly according to specification. They assemble, fit and weld all the required parts together,

Due to the nature of their work, they are exposed to chemical vapours from welding, high noise levels and they carry out their work mostly in dirty and dusty conditions.
Boiler fitters can become contractors and contract their services out to the construction and building industry.
