Barmen mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
Other duties includes
- Serving wine and draught or bottled beer.
- Collecting money for drinks served.
- Ordering or requisitioning liquor and supplies.
- Arranging bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
- Ensuring that slices and pitted fruit are available for garnishing drinks.
- Prepares appetizers, such as pickles, cheese, and cold meats.
Bartenders can be employed in Hotels, Restaurants, Holiday resorts and can also be employed by hospitality contract companies.
Training is given in-house although some institutions offer Cocktail Barmen courses.
