Architectural draughters prepare detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by architect.
Draughting can be an exciting and varied career.
In the past draughting was drawn by hand but nowadays computers make life much easier for everyone. Architectural draughters need a strong knowledge of building construction so that they are able to understand plans.
Archtectural draughters:
- Analyze the technical implications of an architect's design concept, including calculating weights, volumes, and stress factors.
- Work out procedures and instructions to be followed, according to design specifications and quantity of required materials.
- Represent the architect on the construction site, making sure that the builder follows design specifications, and advise on design corrections, under the architect's supervision.
- Supervise, coordinate, and inspect the work of the draftspersons, technicians, and technologists on construction projects.
