Animal care attendants take care of animals and all aspects concerning their wellbeing e.g. feeding, cleaning, dipping and giving medicine.
When working on a small holding, animal care attendants usually perform all these duties, but if they work with many animals, their duties are usually split up, e.g. one attendant will weigh and mix the recommended feed before they feed the animals.
All animals follow different diets, and their attendants need to supply this diet in order to keep them healthy. Some attendants clean out the cages, stables or barns while the others take care of the animals by exercising them (e.g. horses), or watching them graze (e.g. cattle).
Some caretakers specialise in giving the animals their medication, or dipping them to preveperform similar duties to a veterinary assistant. They need to report any problems to the person in charge.
